1928: This site to be used as a secondary lookout point.
July 19, 1934: "Word has been received at the local forest office that Don McNely who took the civil service examination last winter as a caterpillar tractorman, had received an appointment on the Umatilla forest with headquarters at Pendleton. McNely who is employed as a lookout fireman on Wildcat Mountain has accepted the appointment and has been released from his employment here. The appointment must be approved in Washington, D.C., before it is effective which will take approximately two weeks." (Central Oregonian)
July 9, 1936: "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gray and family left, the first of July, for Wildcat Lookout Station where Mr. Gray is employed for the summer by the Forest Service." (Central Oregonian)
July 1, 1937: "The wind storm was one of the worst ever experienced by forest men here. Trees were blown down and shutters were torn from the lookout tower on Wildcat Mountain. No record of the speed of the wind is available." (Central Oregonian)
