1967: " Brooks Scanlon agreed to furnish a secondary lookout facility on Three Creek Butte. The District manned the lookout when the burning index indicated a high risk and during times of risk due to thunder storms." (1967 Annual Report to Or. Department of Forestry)
2002: Over the Memorial Day weekend a drunken person with a disabled vehicle burned the remains of the abandoned lookout house, along with setting several slash piles afire to attract attention and cause his rescue. He was rescued by the law and booked for burning the lookout.
