August 13, 1933: "Elden Pepiot is stationed at Mt. Tipsue, a lookout house is under construction at present. The lumber is packed in by mules." (The Register-Guard)
September 17, 1933: "R. W. Rundlett has three crews at work in the high country, one of them building a lookout house on top of a 30-foot tower on Mt. Tipso. This will be a major lookout point in that section and overlooks the blowdown area on the south fork." (The Eugene Guard)
October 14, 1949: "Former Forest Service employees from all over the state, including Portland, Coos Bay and Eastern Oregon, will attend a banquet given by the McKenzie District of Willamette Forest for all those who worked in the district during the past summer.
Prof. Paul B. Means, head of the department of religion at the University of Oregon, will act as toastmaster. He and his daughter Charlotte held a lookout post on Tipsoo Lookout" (The Eugene Guard)
