July 31, 1934: "Six boys from Portland were fined recently at Hood River for leaving an unextinguished camp fire on national forest land, Albert Wiesendanger, forest ranger in charge of Eagle Creek park, reported yesterday to A.O. Waha, supervisor of Mount Hood forest. The fire was discovered by Ed Mohr, lookout on Chinidere mountain while on a patrol trip around Wahtum lake, and the boys were traced to Eagle Creek camp. They were taken before the court at Hood River." (Morning Oregonian)
June 20, 1935: "Harold Gustafson will be lookout on Chinidere mountain as soon as horses pack his supplies in, snow being too deep yet to use trucks. Gustafson arrived Sunday from Corvallis, where he is a forestry student at Oregon State college." (The Bonneville Dam Chronicle)
