August 27, 1933: "Word was brought here today of a bad pack train accident between Lost lake and Buck mountain when five animals, loaded with eight and 12-foot lumber destined for forest lookout house construction, rolled from a narrow ledge into the gorge of a small stream. One horse suffered a broken leg and was shot. Another suffered back injuries that may prove fatal and three others were bruised badly. The horses were owned by A. Masterson of Parkdale."
