July 1925: "Two new lookout points have been authorized for this season, one in Ranger Anderson's district on Stephenson Mountain and the other on Mackey Butte in Ranger Donnelly's district. These lookouts will be connected direct, by telephone, with the Supervisor's office." (Six Twenty-Six)

July 9, 1925: "Construction work has been started on a new telephone line in the Snow Mountain region. This telephone line will connect Allison ranger station headquarters for Ranger Donnelly with the new lookout station being developed at Mackay Butte which is really the highest point of Buck Mountain. The line will be 22 miles in length and will be constructed according to forest service standards and No. 9 wire." (Central Oregonian)
September 9, 1926: "Lumber is being hauled from the Ward place near the head of Buck creek to Doe springs ranger station on Buck mountain in the southern part of the Snow mountain district, for the erection of a fireman's cabin, which will be constructed at that place soon." (Central Oregonian)
