August 9, 1928: "Ranger Elder has completed a new telephone line from the summit of the mountain near Badger ranger station to near Peterson point. The line is approximately four and a half miles long and will terminate on a secondary observation point which will be used as a secondary lookout point." (Central Oregonian)
March 21, 1929: "A lookout tower will be constructed on Peterson Point in order that special lookout service can be rendered during smoky periods and following electrical storms, and the like. This will be supplemented to the regularly occupied lookout points. This is only one of several secondary lookout points that will be used during the coming fire season." (Central Oregonian)
1930: Dick Helms was the emergency fireman at this lookout.
