October 2, 1912: "The local forest people last week completed an 80-foot lookout tower at the Rosland ranger station. It will save the ranger from making a seven-mile trip to his former lookout point and give just as good a view of the surrounding country." (The Bend Bulletin)
March 14, 1915: "Harry Childers has been appointed fire guard by the forest service for the Rosland ranger station. The lookout at this station is one of the most unique in the state, being a 250 foot tower built on a big yellow pine. The trunk of the tree is divided about 20 feet from the ground and forms two parallel supports for the tower up to a height of nearly 200 feet.
The lookout's station in the top of the tower sways from two to 10 feet in the wind." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
