January 18, 1943: "A lookout station is being constructed in the center of the area and a system of roads and trails throughout the tract will assist in fire control and protect the valuable plantations." (Corvallis Gazette-Times)
February 5, 1943: "With 1,500,000 trees to be set out in southern Lincoln county by March, the C.P.S. workers will start construction of a new forest service lookout tower in the Blodgett area to be built on a 20 foot log tower." (Corvallis Gazette-Times)
February 6, 1943: "Camp Albert Angell's 135 conscientious objectors will soon begin an extensive war-forestry schedule, F.W. Furst, Siuslaw forest supervisor, announced today.
War catastrophe units will be formed at the camp to aid civilians in times of bombing, fire or flood. The program also called for C.O. workers to construct a forestry lookout tower in the area of Blodgett." (The Coos Bay Times)
October 12, 1943: "A modern 14 x 14 house on a 40 foot creosoted tower has been erected on Blodgett Peak, which is situated in the center of the area. A good road now permits one to drive to the lookout which affords an excellent view of the entire coast from Waldport to Yachats." (Corvallis Gazette-Times)
