October 6, 1933: "The city today announced plans to seek federal aid in the development at Roxy Ann park, to be known as the Prescott Memorial park, through the proposed winter encampment there of 200 civilian conservation corps men, now located in Crater Lake national park.
The park site, composed of 1700 acres on the nearby mountain, Roxy Ann, has been processed by Medford for some time, the development being started by the Medford Lions club, of which the late Constable George J. Prescott was a member. The road to the park site has been surveyed by the county, and its construction, according to plans submitted by the city, would be completed by the civilian conservation corps.
The program also involves a general cleanup of the park, transplanting of trees, and construction of a lookout tower and other park buildings." (The Morning Oregonian)
