July 16, 1930: "When B. Wagner went to the Bone Mountain lookout on Eden Ridge recently in the service of the Coos County Fire Patrol association, he carried with him a rifle and an ancient varmint dog. Last Thursday the ancient varmint dog barked up: Wagner fired his trusty rifle; and a 9 foot 8 inch cougar, one of the largest reported this year, came tumbling down." (The Coos Bay Times)
June 2, 1931: "Lee Wagner of Marshfield is stationed at Gold mountain for two weeks then will take charge of the Bone mountain lookout for the summer." (Roseburg News-Review)
October 5, 1933: "The Rock Creek CCC crew will construct a five mile road to the Bone Mountain lookout." (News Review)
February 17, 1934: "Another project is the Bone mountain trail from the camp to the highest point on the mountains where a lookout tower will be built. The main purpose of this trail is fire protection for fir and cedar." (Roseburg News-Review)
