July 21, 1915: "E.H. Howell, Deputy State Fire Warden and Ranger Vincent are constructing a lookout tower at Sisters, which will be about eighty feet high when completed." (The Bend Bulletin - The Deschutes Ranger)
September 12, 1918: "Walter Graham and Lynn Wilson stationed a large flag at the top of the lookout station Saturday. The wind gauge just above the flag contains seven stars, one for each soldier who has gone to the front from Sisters." (The Bend Bulletin)
