July 16, 1914: “Chief Ranger Mendenhall left for the mountains Wednesday, accompanied by Tom Morton, who will be permanently stationed on Rhododendron Ridge.” (Estacada Progress)
July 23, 1914: “A new fire station is being built on Mt. Lowe. This station will be equipped with all the latest instruments for discovering and locating fires.” (Estacada Progress)
November 5, 1914: “Tom Morton, of Estacada, has returned home, after spending a few months in the mountains, in connection with the Forestry Service.” (Estacada Progress)
July 8, 1915: “Among the Estacada men and boys who have left for the mountains to work for the forestry department are Art Perry and Chas. Frazier who left last Monday. Frazier will be stationed on Mt. Lowe, which is an important but lonely lookout station, about 15 miles back from Clackamas.” (Estacada Progress)
September 14, 1916: “Ralph Reed of Garfield returned home this week, aft er spending the summer in the forestry work, being in charge of the Mt Lowe lookout station.” (Eastern Clackamas News)
July 4, 1918: "On Wednesday Mrs. W. Wash and daughter Eva of Estacada left for similar service, being in charge of the Mt. Lowe station.” (Eastern Clackamas News)
September 5, 1918: “Mrs. W.A. Wash and daughter Eva of Estacada, after a summer spent in the forestry service, being stationed at the Mt. Lowe Station, returned to Estacada Tuesday evening. A royal welcome was given the feminine rangers, with the packtrain adorned with cow bells, which set up a merry jingle. Mrs. Wash and her daughter are leaving shortly for New York, where Miss Eva will take a special course at Columbia University. J.L. Maddran the government packer, under whom Miss Eva worked is profuse in her praises as being the most faithful and conscientious in her duties. He says that she sent the best fire report of all, and was absolutely to be depended upon in every way.” (Eastern Clackamas News)

"Cracks in walls; leak around chimney; loose siding; paint peeling; cracks around windows; windows need putty; no screens; shutters need paint; repair shingles on NW side; repair flashing around chimney; wood stove has Yukon chimney; flagstone sidewalk; flagpole needs painting; door sags; floor needs paint.
The building is old and should be replaced.
Need toilet at lookout. Present structure is open in the front with no door or screens." (Inspection Report)
