July 18, 1972: "A former Forest Service lookout in southern Grant County, Oregon, has been offered for sale here by the federal government's General Services Administration (GSA)
The property consists of 2.5 acres atop a butte known as Spion Copp in the rugged country northwest of Seneca in the Malheur National Forest.
The property is being offered for sale by sealed bids, which will be opened at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, in room 1009 of the Federal Office Building in Seattle. said Roy N. Vernstrom, GSA's Northwest regional administrator. Bid forms are available there and through GSA at Auburn, Wash." (Oregonian)

September 7, 1972: "A lookout, on a butte referred to as Spion Copp near Seneca, Ore., consisted of 2.5 acres and was sold to two snowmobile enthusiasts. C.O. Salisbery of Hines and Dick Corbett of Burns paid $1,301 for the unimproved land and plan to build a cabin as an overnight spot for snowmobiling." (Playground Daily News – Florida)
