October 24, 1954: "Communications with Portland posed a problem until PGE completed a micro-wave system with a transmitter at the dam site. Signals are beamed to a reflector on Oak Grove butte lookout station where they are bounced down to a receiver at Three Lynx power plant. From here they are cut into the landline system so that PGE's project engineer Larry K. Kelsh can speak directly with the Portland office." (The Sunday Oregonian)
March 30, 1959: “The new catwalk and railing was completed on Oak Grove Butte Lookout tower. Plans for next year call for the modernization of all lookout houses by the installation of propane stoves and heaters.” (I-information – Historical Report, Summit District - 1958)
1964: The lookout was de-activated.
