July 1, 1932: “The Forest Service crew have their road about completed to the top of the mountain, half a mile from the highway. Lumber will be in today for the new Siltcoos lookout station.” (Siuslaw Oar)
July 15, 1932: “A. G. Hines, forest ranger, says that the men under Contractor C. S. Wort have finished the half mile road from the highway to the top of the mountain. The building of the new Siltcoos guard house is reported to be progressing nicely. Roy Osborne, Umpqua ranger, has been assisting.” (Siuslaw Oar)

April 30, 1933: "A. G. Hines took up his duties as forest guard at Siltcoos lookout station on Wednesday of this week. Mrs. Hines and little son moved to the station Thursday. Mr. Hines has been employed at carpenter work on the veneer plant at Booth for the past several months." (The Eugene Guard)
