July 24, 1924: "The new lookout man is now on the job, and many visitors are calling at the lookout station and viewing the surrounding country, which they can see for many miles. The new man is a college student, and his name is Edward Boldt." (La Grande Evening Observer)
July 21, 1933: "Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bidwell have moved to Anthony Butte lookout station. Bidwell will have charge of that station this summer." (Baker Democrat Herald)
September 13, 1933: "The forest service is constructing under the public works program, the following: A 14 x 14 foot lookout house on a 35-foot tower on Anthony butte." (The Baker Democrat-Herald)
September 21, 1933: "A building 14 X 14 feet set on a 30-foot tower as a lookout is being built on Anthony butte in the North Powder district of the Whitman national forest according to W.E. Barnett, ranger. A crew of three men, consisting of Dean Bidwell, lookout for this station, Walter Cook and Foreman Gillmore, is at work on the structure, material having been previously hauled to the high point. The building is one of those ready-built houses." (The Record-Courier)
August 11, 1934: "Plans provide for extension of the road from the lakes northward by Grande Ronde lake to Webfoot meadows. A crew is now working on the project. Clearing has been completed and grading work will be undertaken in the near future on a stub road leading up to the jagged rocks just under the Anthony lakes lookout. Upon completion of the road it will be possible to drive an automobile to a point within a 10 minutes walk of the lookout house, from which it is possible to see on a clear day as far west as Mt. Hood, as far south as the Strawberry range and north and east to the mountains ranges in Idaho." (La Grande Evening Observer)
